Nov 2018: Barely 13 months after commencing operation in Nigeria and without any prior notice to her Customers and dealers, Kwese TV scales down it Channels from 76 to 15.

This article provides information on how to reset the Kwese TV Decoder. After guiding at least 20 Kwese TV clients to reset their decoder over the phone, I have documented the process for the benefit of others who have need to reset their decoders.

Some of the following events bring about the need to reset your decoder.

  • Decoder is locked to one channel
  • Decoder is not showing ALL paid Content – showing some channels and not showing others.
  • Decoder is locked to Secondary STB. You get an error message that reads, “You will not be able to watch any program until you enter the Primary STB ID”

Follow the Procedure below to Reset your Kwese Decoder

  1. Press the Menu Button
  2. Scroll to the Configuration Menu
  3. On Configuration Menu, Scroll to and Press the System Setting Menu

Under System Setting, Scroll to Time Setting

  1. While on Time Setting, Press the Button Combination below quickly (Do not Click into Time Setting, Just Scroll on it)

Press the Green Button + 4 + 3 + 6 + 2 + Mute Button

(If the Button is Pressed Correctly, You will see a New Menu – Service Menu under Time Setting).

  1. Click on Service Menu
  2. Under Service Menu, Click on Restore Factory Defaults

(The Decoder will Reboot, It will show a Screen with “Primary Mode” Choose Ok)
